Almost every version of my website over the past 13 years has been dark themed. For this version, I knew I wanted to continue that aesthetic, but I had a very specific look in mind. I wanted it to have the feeling of a moonlit darkness--- that is, dark with a subtle glow or haze. I wanted the objects and atmosphere to feel like authentic night time. To accomplish this, all images were post-processed and hand-tinted to lower their color saturation. Also critical to the effect: a very dark blue was used for the site's background color, instead of pure black. This was particularly tricky, because all images had to be stripped of their pure black values to maintain a surface tonal consistency. The result is a final composition that appears draped in a soft, glowing veil of ambient moonlight.
