This is my most complicated Photoshop piece to date, with over 7,700 layers and a total file size of 2.2GB. When I first had the idea for it, I planned to only draw the centerpiece "Geek" and use stock art for the motherboard details.
I searched and searched for motherboard or circuitry clip-art. I thought surely there must be an abundance of quality tech component stock images? Turns out, not so much. So one by one, I made from scratch each component in Photoshop. It took about 8 months. When I finally finished the poster, I had a nice collection of vector motherboard components. So I thought, why not let others use them? And thus was born The Motherboard Collection. So if you're a graphic artist looking to add some tech to your art, visit the product page: [link] I am confident that you won't find a better motherboard stock-art collection. Thanks for viewing, and enjoy the desktop. Here are the resolutions: Standard 1024 x 768 - [link] 1280 x 1024 - [link] 1600 x 1200 - [link] Widescreen 1680 x 1050 - [link] 1920 x 1200 - [link] 2560 x 1600 - [link] *UPDATE* - Thanks to everyone and all their warm fuzzy support. It's very rewarding to receive so much sincere praise from so many other talented artists. *UPDATE* - I've been receiving a lot of questions about how I manage 7000+ layers, so here's a bit of background: 7700 is the total number of layers if you add them all up from the many documents that comprise the final piece. The way I approached it is by creating the pieces individually and saving them into separate canvas groups, then importing each component as flattened graphics into the final canvas. By doing this I was able to keep the master file down to about 800 layers. If I had kept all the layers intact for each itty bitty component, I would have had to manage the 7700 layers in one canvas, which would probably have melted my computer.
